Philosophy for Children is the practice of philosophical enquiry that aims to develop questioning, reasoning and judgement. Research studies have shown that P4C has both cognitive and social impact on children and schools.There will be a range of practical workshops across all age ranges and for both newcomers and those with P4C experience.
Opening Doors to Quality Thinking - Bob Cox
Bob Cox is Director of Searching for Excellence and has been presenting ideas about high quality learning and English at regional, national and international conferences for 10 years. He is the author of the ‘Opening Doors’ series which won the ERA Award in 2017 for ‘Best Education book’. Bob also directs an enrichment centre called ‘The Saturday Challenge’ and works in schools and at conferences, with his team, to stimulate approaches which encourage thinking, questioning and philosophy as routes to excellence. Bob was a teacher for 23 years, reaching advanced skills teacher status, and worked in school improvement for 5 years for an LA as a lead consultant for ‘gifted and talented’. Bob has supported around 450 schools in-house in their search for excellence.
