CALL FOR PAPERS - 12TH INTL CONFERENCE IN P4C - THE CHILD AS SOCIAL CRITIC

October 9th, 2008

2009 January Conference

As each year, in January of 2009 we will celebrate our twelfth international conference / workshop of Philosophy for Children and Adolescents in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, from the 3rd to the 11th. This time the theme will be “The Child as Social Critic.”

Education in a globalized world requires that our children and adolescents be critical consumers who have the abilities to respond in appropriate ways to the onslaughts of the mass media.

The child as social critic should also respond to the questions, “What type of person do I want to be?” and “In what type of world do I want to live?”

The development of a social conscience and a sensibility toward social justice are two other controversial themes that will be being aired in our January conference.

The cost of the event is of 3800 pesos, which does not it include lodging or food. English translation will be provided for the conference presentations but not for the community of inquiry sessions.

If you have interest in participating with a piece of your work, write us, and we will talk of the format and features. Submissions may be in English or Spanish; the submission deadline is November 30, 2008.

We hope to be with you this year.
