SOPHIA Menon Project

As a partner in the European project “MENON: Developing dialogue through philosophical inquiry” SAPERE is currently funded along with 10 European partners with special responsibilities to produce a booklet, a teachers hand book and DVD.

Dissemination of results and experiences :

1 publication of a booklet establishing theoretical foundations and pedagogical implications of dialogue in each partners language i.e. DE, EN, ES, FI, LV, HU, MT, NL, PO, IS, NO
2 adaptation and publication of Teacher’s Handbook and CD-rom in each partners own language
3 publication of DVD containing interactive pedagogical materials partly translated in each partners own language, partly followed by translated paper transcripts (video clips)
4 brochures of Dialogue Course in each partners own language
5 publication of the final evaluation report of the project in English
6 brochures of the evaluation of pilot courses and material available in each partners own language
7 project website of 30 pages in English with all necessary information of materials available, contact persons in each countries, course curriculum etc.
8 International Workshop for European teachers and teacher educators on Dialogue in 2008 (Lisbon, Portugal)

The co-ordinator will lead the dissemination process where each partner has its own and partly mutual responsibilities as following:

  • SAPERE (UK) is responsible for the publication of the English version of booklet as well as of the English version of Teacher’s Handbook and CD-rom, and after that each partner is responsible for their translation and publication in their own countries (point 1 and 2 above),

  • University of Oulu (Finland) together with the assistance of SAPERE (UK) are responsible for the publication of DVD after having reached the necessary translations from partners (point 3),

  • University of Madrid (Spain) is responsible for the publication of brochure of Dialogue Course in English, and after that each partner will translate and publish the national versions (point 4),

  • The special Evaluation Team (AT, NL, LV and PT) is responsible for the publication of final report (point 5),

  • All partners are responsible for point 6,

  • University of Oulu (Finland) is responsible for the publication and updates of project’s website (point 7)

  • Portugal is responsible for the general organizing of the International Workshop on Dialogue and - together with all other partners – of the programme and activities during the workshop

Long-term exploitation of project results by

  • implementing the results and experiences into the further execution of teacher education in partner countries
  • continuing the cooperation between the partners after Menon - project and considering the special further Socrates- project for teacher trainers
  • developing further material along the lines project
  • project’s own website
  • the networks of teacher education of participating countries
  • the networks of ICPIC (International Council of Philosophical Inquiry with Children), and SOPHIA , as well as the network of UNESCO – SCHOOLS
  • organizing further courses, workshop and conferences for teachers on topic
  • active participation in conferences of the topic
