Biography
Pat Hannam is Head of Belief Philosophy and Ethics in a large Comprehensive School in South Cumbria. Her training work is greatly informed by recent successful experience of embedding Philosophical Enquiry into the secondary Curriculum. Students achieve highly in this department. She has experience of working across the age range and in informal situations with community groups. Pats approach to training is flexible and she can develop a programme to suit many different situations. As a ‘Creative Learning’ Lead Practitioner with The Specialist Schools’ Trust, Pat is particularly concerned with the deeply creative potential of Philosophical enquiry.
Pat has been the driving force behind a successful and innovative school-linking project with a school in Mexico City (focusing on Citizenship and Human Rights) using Philosophical Enquiry. Pat is especially interested in the linking between philosophical enquiry and student participation. She has trained student facilitators in school who are now working confidently in a variety of cross phase and cross-curricular projects.
