Biography
Dr Joanna Haynes is a senior lecturer in Education Studies at the University of Plymouth, a post that she combines with her work as a freelance educational consultant. A qualified primary teacher, Joanna taught first in Glasgow and then in Bristol for 15 years before moving to Plymouth to take up a post in teacher education. As an educator, Joanna has worked with all age groups in many different settings, nurseries, schools, community, adult education, teacher training, continuing professional development and higher education. She has a Bachelors degree in Philosophy from the University of Kent and a Masters degree in Education from Bristol University. Joanna is author of ‘Children as Philosophers’ (2002, routledgefalmer) and co-author, with Karin Murris, of Storywise: Thinking through Stories (2003 dialogueworks). Joanna has been involved in running courses, inset days and thinking events for pupils over the last eleven years.
